Why does the UN think "traditional values are the foundation for human rights"? Why are feminists against it?

Spousal abuse and honor killings are forms of traditional family values. In many cultures, it's perfectly traditional and acceptable for a man to beat his wife if he feels like it and honor killings are seen as the only way women can redeem themselves and their families if they have been disgraced.
