How do you make old fashion pickle beans?

I am looking for a recipe that my grandmother made --- Pickled Beans, made in a salt brine. They could be made in a stone jar or in a quart jar. I need to know how much salt to how much water. I know the basics, but it seems like there was something else I should add. I know there was no sugar or vinegar added.
