Is it colder/wetter inland or along the coast in S. devon near Exeter?

We are hoping to relocate from the rainy/snowy Derbyshire Peak District to Exeter area. One of the reasons is the awful weather so I was wondering if the weather is more inclined to be rainy inland or coast side...where is best weatherwise?
